Homemade Music from Belgrade, Maine
C.B. Hazard and the Howling Loons rendition of their new "Day's Store" song is racing to the top of the music charts in Belgrade this summer with over 50 EP's sold. Hazard, a Belgrade resident, is excited by the success of the song and the EP of the same name. "This is our first release and it's amazing to see the response by people in Belgrade, residents and visitors alike!" he states. Hazard wrote the music and words for the Day's Store song, describing the many goods and services the well known Belgrade establishment provides. "We originally recorded as a Christmas present from our family to Day's as they were celebrating their 50th anniversary. Then we got the idea for a CD that people could purchase it as a memento," Hazard says.
Other songs on the EP there are five in all include odes to spring, work, good luck, and demolition derbies, and represent a more universal appeal to listeners who have yet to succumb to the wonder of the small village, general store aka Day's. "A little something for everyone," notes Hazard, who wrote all the lyrics and most of the music. A friend Don DiNicola helped with the music for "Demolition Derby." Son Isaac arranged and sang background vocals and gave guidance when needed, as did wife Wendy. Day's Store EPs are available at Day's Store in Belgrade Lakes Village.
