Somerset Stone Makes Dreams Come True

Somerset Stone Center building and sign

Walls . . . hearths . . . granite accents!

Everything stone is the specialty of Somerset Stone Center & Excavation on Green Road in Fairfield — not just supplying stone but installing it, excavating for it, constructing with it, and repairing it.

In business for 22 years and owned by Wayne and Becky Tibbetts since June 2007, the store and yard are fairly bustling with stones of all types. Indeed the largest selection of natural stone thin veneers available in New England is one of Somerset Stone's claims to stonework fame. Other stones include granite, sandstone, fieldstone, blue stone, quartzite, and several stones native to Maine, as well as a selection of retaining wall blocks and concrete pavers.

Pallets of flat stones awaiting builders.

Patios stones are popular right now, but . . .

"With heating costs so high," says Narissa Seamans, office manager, "we sell the stones that go under stoves." Somerset Stone can also build fireplaces; the business has its own mason. Somerset Stone also encourages do-it-yourselfers, working with them to make sure the installation is done right.

To find out more about Somerset Stone check out its website or call 453-2616. Better yet, visit the Center. The drive there is scenic and the store and yard conducive to home improvement ideas.
