New Findings On Judge Crater

He was known as having a chauffeured mahogany speedboat, a wife who was a former Siegfried Follies Girl, and an unpretentious summer camp on an unnamed cove on Great Pond. The judge left Belgrade suddenly one day and was last seen getting into a taxi in New York City on August 6, 1930. He disappeared into a maze of speculation, rumor, and search — all to no avail. Conservation Scholarship Seeks Applicants

College students who are majoring in forestry, agriculture or natural resources and have resided at least two years in Kennebec or Waldo Counties are invited to apply for the unique Waning-Faust Memorial Scholarship. Awarded in memory of two men who spent their lifetimes working toward better stewardship of the land, and who in their personal lives were farmers, wilderness camp owners, and conservationists, the fund has distributed seven scholarships since 1991.
