Summertime in the Belgrades

Dear Readers:

As another memorable season signs off, we thank you for making our publication part of your summer in the Belgrades and beyond . . . and we wish you a happy interim until we start up again in 2004.

This has been a very good season for Summertime in the Belgrades. We expanded our distribution, added four pages, packed them full of as many of the wonderful, family-oriented activities and outings current and upcoming throughout the region as possible, and even got to enjoy some of these unique events -- as well as the occasional swim -- ourselves.

As always we appreciated the many compliments that you gave us concerning coverage and contents. We feel that this region of the world is a remarkable area for simple, sane, positive and proactive pursuits and are happy to be in the position of bringing many of them to our readers' attention.

A special thanks goes to our many advertisers. Thanks for being so supportive, and thanks for being part of the selection of businesses that make Summertime in the Belgrades such an excellent resource for goods and services.

Although many end-of-the-season thanks are due to everyone who worked on the paper, we especially give credit to the remarkable distribution team of 87-year-olds, Esther and Charles Pierce, who made the weekly rounds of Oakland, Mount Vernon, Vienna and selected stops along the way.

We've said it before, and we remind you once again: Summertime in the Belgrades truly tries to be there for everyone. We're always interested in your ideas, comments, creative contributions and suggestions. Send them to us during the year, or save them for us for the summer of 2004 -- which is already in our thoughts and anticipations.

Until then happy memories . . .

Erle, Esther, and all the staff!
