It's Bluegrass Time
When Greg and Sandy Cormier send out their season's greetings and news about the Blistered Fingers Family Bluegrass Festivals, they invite the public to two of the best-run outings of the summer and to a ten-year tradition of bringing class bluegrass to Central Maine.
Held at the Silver Spur Riding Club grounds in Sidney, the festivals promise great upright and acoustic bluegrass music, a beautiful setting for day visits or camping, a fun, friendly atmosphere, around-the-clock field picking for those who want to hear superb off-stage talent, and a getaway the whole family can appreciate and enjoy.
This season, Thursday, June 19 through Sunday, June 22 are the dates of the first festival, with gates opening for Early Bird arrivals on Tuesday at 7:00 a.m. and closing on Monday at10:00 a.m. For those who like to stay until Monday morning, an End of the Festival Pot Luck supper under the large tent will be held Sunday night.
Other highlights of the festival include: music all day Friday, Sunday Morning Bluegrass Gospel, Open Stage sets on Saturday afternoon - with one or two bands being hired to perform the following year, and concessions throughout the festival for food, crafts, clothes, musical supplies, and more.

For the 4,000 plus campers that flock to the festival, the site offers free hot showers, clean supervised grounds, and 24-hour security and phone answering service.
In addition to weekend tickets ($45.00 at the gate) which cover Thursday through Sunday, day tickets are available for each of the four days as follows: Thursday $10.00, Friday $15.00, Saturday $20.00 all day and $10.00 after 5:00 p.m., and Sunday $10.00
Rough camping is free with a weekend ticket or ten dollars with a day ticket. All dogs are $10.00 each, must be on a leash at all times, and are not allowed in the concert area.
Entertainment is scheduled as follows: Thursday 5:00-10:00 p.m., Friday 12:00 noon-10:00 p.m., Saturday 10:00 a.m.-1:00 a.m., and Sunday 10:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
